The Lesablier Aviateur VQ is an aviators watch for the 21st century. 
 
The "VQ" in the name is an abbreviation for Vingt-Quatre, or "Twenty-four" in French. As there are 24 hours in a day, there are 24 hours on the VQ's dial. In military and aviation circles, the phrase "6 o' clock" has little meaning. To solve this, the Aviateur VQ's dial is indexed from 1-24 instead of the 1-12 layout of conventional watch dials. 
 
Like all our watches, the Aviateur VQ will only be made in limited quantities to ensure each piece is perfect. Each batch, or series, will consist of 250 pieces with the Midnight watch band and 250 pieces with the Terracotta band. The individual production number and the series identifier can be found on both the dial and caseback. Once we sell out of a series, the watches will only be available on a pre-order basis until the next series is ready. 
 
The Aviateur VQ is both a product of fine watchmaking and 21st century design. Our crisp high-contrast black dial is designed specifically for optimum clarity and legibility. All text and indices on the dial feature 8-hour SuperLum to ensure the dial is readable even in low-light conditions. The 41mm case is made from 316L stainless steel and then sandblasted to ensure durability. Our domed sapphire crystal was designed specifically for this watch, it is extremely clear, scratch resistant, and features a blue anti-reflective coating to reduce glare. The 24-hour Swiss Quartz movement ensures great accuracy and reliability.
 
Our namesake, the hourglass, is present in the form of a deep engraving on the crown. Our caseback was inspired by engravings present on many antique and high-end hunting rifles (and a bit by haute horlogerie). Even though the caseback is an area rarely seen by the viewer, it is important to us to make sure each caseback is intricate and beautiful. 
 
Each of the Aviateur VQs comes in our signature "Aviator" box. The box features a window presenting the dial to you immediately. If you ever feel the need to take the watch off your wrist, you can simply put it back in the box and use it as a desk clock.
